Power Station!!!

I have had one of these for years, Schumacher Rechargeable AGM Jump Starter and Portable USB/DC Power Station - 1200 Amp - with Air Compressor and LED flex light. I keep it charged with my solar panels and use it to run things like a 19" tv for news in case of bad weather, charge my cell phone, and I have cooked on my Electric Hot Burner with this. It is a great thing to have on had. Not really a generator , per se, But , it does have inverter and stores power. Really comes in handy when power goes out for a bit.

Mend Your Denim To Save Money!

Learning how to mend your clothing items is a great way to save money. It is also a great way to give thrifted clothing an update!

Mending Matters: Stitch, Patch, and Repair Your Favorite Denim & More is a fun book showing ways to mend denim. Mending Matters explores sewing on two levels: First, it includes more than 20 hands-on projects that showcase current trends in visible mending that are edgy, modern, and bold—but draw on traditional stitching. It does all this through just four very simple mending techniques: exterior patches, interior patches, slow stitches, darning, and weaving. In addition, the book addresses the way mending leads to a more mindful relationship to fashion and to overall well-being. In essays that accompany each how-to chapter, Katrina Rodabaugh explores mending as a metaphor for appreciating our own naturally flawed selves, and she examines the ways in which mending teaches us new skills, self-reliance, and confidence, all gained from making things with our
own hands.

Denim Mending + Visible Mending for Beginners: 2-in-1 Compendium for Mending Denim, Knitted Fabrics, and Other Materials is another one that is full of ways to mend denim. Inside this book you will discover:
A 9-step patching technique, to help you make the perfect patch and design for your denim

1 jean repair 'pro-tip' that professional jean tailors will never reveal to you

A versatile and robust mending technique that can repair your favorite sweater

How to mend denim easily by hand, even if it is your first time, by using 3 classic Japanese stitching techniques

How to re-enforce the inner thigh of your jeans, with a simple but effective 8-step method

1 secret tool that will make stitching easy, even if it's your first time

The secret to finding and mending thrift store clothing

How to mend your favorite denim (and avoid cutting them into shorts) using the ‘sashiko’ method

How to patch jeans while keeping the distressed look

How to hem jeans while keeping the original hem

The biggest mistake you could be making when choosing a fabric to patch your denim

1 mending technique that blends both mending and embroidery, giving you the best of both worlds

1 simple but crucial tip that will make patching easier for you

The #1 stitching technique you should use when repairing pillowcases

A mending technique from India, that is considered a ‘dying art’, and could be lost to the ages within our lifetime (it's also perfect for mending your socks)

Frugal Decor Tip - Recover Upcycle A Table

My card table gets used a lot and had some tears in it. So as I was redoing my kitchen drawers and shelves with contact paper the idea came to me to recover the table! Easy and was only $2.00! Frugal upcycle of a card table that I was thinking of throwing out! The 2nd piece took longer to put on because I had to match the flowers up. But, I think I did it pretty good!

Smart Renovations that Transform Homes

Create a personal space that fits your personality by investing in key upgrades. There are several changes you can make to the home that will personalize the space, ensure that it suits your needs, and possibly even boost the property value. If you’re ready to make an investment in your home, then consider these smart changes.

Custom Closets
Storage space is more important now than ever before, and savvy buyers are looking for closet space. If you have an older home with cramped closets, then it’s time for a change. Even if the closets are tiny, you can still turn them into sharp storage space with custom inserts that make better use of the cubic feet. You’ll love the look, and you’ll open more space throughout the home by getting things into storage where they belong.

Clever Kitchen Accessories
If you love to bake, then you might like a pop-up shelf that can take your stand mixer from counter-height back to a handy storage area. Kitchen islands with built-in wine racks are also popular, or you may want a built-in desk where you can sit down to do the bills. Open shelves and glass front cabinets are also in demand, and you can use these spaces to showcase your favorite things.

The Attic Bedroom
If you have an attic with plenty of overhead space, then consider turning it into a living area. Attic renovations are great because they expand the living space without expanding the footprint of the house. Use the attic as your personal office, home theater, or even a soothing library.

Bring in the Light
If you have a room that feels dark, then consider enlarging the windows to bring in more light. French doors that open up to the patio will make the room feel larger while boosting the value of your home. When the space feels brighter and more welcoming, you’ll find that it’s more enjoyable to spend some time there in the evenings.

Any of these improvements can make your home more functional and enjoyable, and a professional team can assist you with the entire process. Get details now so that you can learn more about your options and make a fully informed decision regarding your next renovation.

Fun DIY Skirt!

I'll begin by saying that I suck at sewing. I don't do it often and when I do, I generally do a rushed job of hand sewing. Sewing machines are just.. complicated. Too complicated for me anyway. Recently, however, my mom decided to begin teaching me how to use one of those complicated machines. I didn't do any of the sewing this time around, but I did watch as she showed me what to do, told me about the different parts of the machine, and about different stitch patterns. She said that making a skirt is an easy way to begin learning to sew so that's what we did with the shirt featured above. She simply cut the top off of the shirt, hemmed the top edge of what would eventually be the skirt on the right, leaving an opening, and then worked elastic all the way through! It's cute and comfy! And, it was relatively easy to make! And no worries about hemming the bottom edge because it was already hemmed for us! :p

A Bit Dressed Up ~

I have an eye dr appointment today and want to dress up a bit. Which to me is wearing a button up shirt. I really like to be comfortable and the crop jeans have some stretch to them and so does the top. The top was $1.00 at my favorite thrift store and the cropped jeans were from Ebay for about $6.00. So far , I have spent very little on my Spring / Summer wardrobe. I have been pretty lucky at finding what I want for very little money. I love saving money and being frugal is fun.

I have had this purse for a couple of years now. I love it. It is my favorite purse of all time. Perfect size and look. I paid $3.00 for it at a local thrift store. I have gotten my money's worth out of it.
