Knick Knack Patty Wacks...

Sorry about the title, but when I was wanting to write this that was going thru my head. LOL

Wishing I have a bigger house now with nothing but shelves in it for all of the knick knacks that I seen at thrift store the other day! Really cool way to decorate a house on a frugal budget. Vintage knick knacks and pottery. You can find some really neat items for very little money. Your home can be as stylish as your wardrobe and thrifty!

Decorate Your Walls

You can find so many different unique ways to decorate the walls in your home at flea markets, thrift stores, and yard sales.

I like the idea of using vintage game boards as decor. They are very unique and look very interesting. You can usually get them for next to nothing also.

                             You can also find some great vintage art work. Like these kitties!

This art work was so neat. It is an actual window that they painted and added a piece of art behind. Really neat. Probably would not be hard to make yourself one of these if you didn't want to buy one.

DIY Christmas Decoration

This is such a cute idea. They took an old book and folded it in such a way to then decorate it as a Christmas tree. I love it. They were selling them at the local flea market, but they don't look too hard to make yourself.

I found on Youtube several videos on how to do this and it is not too hard.

Do a search and there are others decorations that you can make from folding books. Even wreaths.

A very frugal way to decorate. Everyone has old paperbacks laying around, why not use them.

Went to the flea market today and seen so many amazing items. This old wooden ammo box(?) is one that, if I was redoing a bathroom, I want! Put a couple of small shelves inside it and a small mirror on the outside and it would be a great medicine cabinet.

Use your imagination and you can find many different ways to use items except their intended purpose.

DIY Homemade Gift Wrapping Ideas!

You spent all of your money on the gifts so save a bit by making your own wrapping paper. This Christmas I am using all of the packing paper that came with any packages that I have gotten in the past year. This makes great wrapping paper. You can decorate it or just leave it plain. I plan on leaving mine just plain. I like the looks of that. With red tags.

Here is a list of some other ideas for you to use:

• Use comic book pages or newspaper.
• Maps that you can get free from each state. I have to admit that I have bags and bags of maps, but I want to save them for if we ever have to bug-out. They do look great as wrapping paper though. Maybe choose a state that someone you know is from or something like that.
• Using reusable shopping totes as gift bags is a good idea. They sell them at dollar tree that are plain also so you can decorate them.
• You could wow everyone by reusing the cardboard boxes that food comes in. Like cereal boxes, etc. Kind of neat and with this you do not have to wrap, just put the item in and seal it up.
• Aluminum foil looks awesome. Wrap a colorful bow and it is stunning.
• Wrap gifts with pretty scarves! Silk ones that you can get at thrift stores would be an awesome idea and they can use it!
• Kitchen towels make good wrapping "paper"! Get print ones at the dollar tree and use it to wrap the gift. 

There are many ways to wrap gifts that is basically free.

Don't forget to save any packaging paper that you get for next Christmas!!

Thrifty Home Decor & More

Don't rule out thrift stores as a low cost way to decorate your home. You can always find great art and more. It is also a way to find vintage items if you want a bohemian style. I have found some really unique pieces of furniture and antiques at thrift store. Also, added to my pottery collection, with the recent drop in prices on McCoy and other pottery my pottery collection has doubled.  You can really change the whole look of your house on a frugal budget by shopping at thrift stores.

This huge picture was only $7.00! I wish now that I would have gotten it, it would have fit and looked perfect above my couch.

Keep an eye out for knick knacks, glassware, and collectibles. Thrift stores and yard sales are a great way to add to anyone collection. For very little money - This cute cardinal was only 50 cents!

The trays made out of paper in the 1940's I got for a whole $1.00. Isn't it amazing that some thing that is made of paper has lasted that long?

 Not sure why I bought this creamer and sugar set. They are kind of cute, but ugly! Vintage pottery is my weakness. 50 cents for the set.

 These funky vintage chairs were $2.00 each and I had to have them all. Even though my OCD is freaking out because one of them is yellow. They are marked Casalino I on the back. Which is a great item I am finding out after doing some research. A true treasure!!

Vintage toys are another item to keep an eye out for. Relive your childhood for very little money. I found a scratch n sniff colorform set just like one that I had when I was a kid for 50 cents!! Amazing shape it is in. Only missing 1 or 2 pieces. YAY!!


               Check out your local thrift stores - you will be surprised at what you can find.
